Angelica's Family wall hanging

~Angelica's Family wall hanging~
Medium: Acrylics on wood
I found this balsom wood frame at the dollar store. I painted it purple then stamped grey mesh and black swirls (in paint). I added stick on jems for a little glitz.

I printed the quote and pictures and adhered them from behind. Organdy ribbon was added to hang it by. I covered the back up with purple card stock to keep it looking neat.

This is a gift for Angelica :)

Beautiful Daughters Block Charm

~Beautiful Daughters Charm~
Medium: Mixed

I found a pack of two wooden blocks at the dollar store. This inspired me :)
I drilled a home down the center. I painted it pink and put pictures of my girls all at around age 5 yrs on it. I coved it all in Diamond Glaze.
I ran a wire pin through the hole and added beads, fibers and a silver cord to hang it by.

Bobble Head clothing

I made these for Maya Rae for Xmas. She said she loved Bobble Heads (Littlest Pet Shop) so much that she wished she had them on clothes.
I scanned some of ther LPS stickers then printed them out on iron-ons.
I put a big version of her current favorite on a $4 T from Walmart and then smaller ones on all the unprinted pairs in a pack of underwear.
She was DELIGHTED!!!

Japanese Shirt

This Japanese symbol is the "Year of the Horse". I took the image from the internet, cleaned it up on Adobe and then printed it onto an iron on. I used a black T from Walmart. The iron-ons say to use no steam but I figured out by accident a few years ago that if you DO use steam you can get a worn in/ vintage look so this time I did use steam to age the look a little.

Meditating Chicken turned book

Meditating Chicken turned book.
This painting/book was a gift for my friend, Heather. I asked her what she liked best and she gave me a list.....chickens, meditation, pink peace signs, tulips, swirls, saige green and anything happy and girly :)
So hows this?
I turned this painting into a book in the same way as the 'Great Spirit Rabbit' below.

Great Spirit Rabbit turned book

This is the Great Spirit Rabbit painting turned into a book.
This was inspired by a little hand made book I saw at the North East Baha'i Conference this month. An aquantence showed me her book. She had gotton it in Africa as I recall. It was simple with white pages and a cardboard cover. She had filled it with quotes, prayers and pictures that made her happy. I was moved by this and came home to make my own.
I painted the cardboard (4.5"x6") then I cut 30 pieces of card stock to size. Then it was all stacked together and clipped in place. I used a tiny drill bit to make the holes along the edge. I used multi colored string and sewed the layers together. I added a ribbon so I can tie it closed. (assuming it will get bulky with time)

Greatest Name Mosaic

~Greatest Name Mosaic~
Medium: Mixed- Acrylics, paper, micro beads and diamond glaze on stretched canvas.

I was in Micheals the other day and saw this oval canvas and was instantly inspired to paint the Greatest Name on it.
The Greatest Name is a symbol of the Baha'i Faith. Translated it means 'O Glory of Glories'.
For the border I glued segments of printed cardstock directly onto the canvas. Then I filled the gaps between the cardstock with diamond glaze and dumped micro beads into the glue. After this dried I pooled diamond glaze onto the cardstock for a glassy look.
I painted the center cream and added the Greatest Name in deep purple.

Many Religions One God

~Many Religions, One God~
Medium: Mixed
I found this stick while out hiking 2 yrs ago. I saw it and thought...this is art!
But, I had no idea of what to do with it.
Then about 3 weeks ago I had the vision of these flags hanging on the stick.
It was inspired by Tibetan Prayer Flags.
I cut the flags of muslin, stamped the border around the edges then painted the religious symbols on each in burnt umber acrylic paint. I strung the flags on waxed string with metal beads separating them.
The symbols in order are....
Zoroastrian (Zoroaster), Hindu (Krishna),Buddhist (Buddha), Jewish (Moses),
Christian (Jesus), Muslim (Mohammad), Baha'i (Baha'u'llah)

This is hanging in our family room :)

~Bunny In The Now~

Medium- Acrylics, Watercolor, Ink on stretched canvas.
I sketched this funny bunny then blew it up and transfered it onto stretched canvas. I used deep chocolate brown acrylic for the border then dusty pink for the center.

I used watercolor directly on the white canvas for the bunny.

I added a sketchy detail using ink.

Dance of Life

~Dance of Life~
Medium- Acrylics
This hard back canvas was painted black first. I drew a dancer and turned it into a stencil.
I made rubber stamps of varied words and stamped them into the stencil in black paint.
